We Caught Up

Smashing bone,

I never quite knew how to tell you

On the telephone

How good you sounded

And how good I thought you’d look.

Dodging bullets

Running past your window

I was full of it

Cartwheeling under fire

So that you’d see me looking fine.

Back down in the bunker

We made love, but still we didn’t

Quite feel like lovers

Just two weird

In each other’s arms.

It wasn’t how I wanted it to end

But we were not as close

As I would quite have liked

You had fascinating eyes

And you could see

How everything would be

And so you bailed

And I can’t complain

But now is not the time for me to weep

My duties are not over

I will never be relieved.

About dcduell

Failed musician. Trying to write for TV. Never sure quite where I'm headed. Serial un-funnyman. I used to do a lot of writing. Sometimes I still do. So I decided to put it on the internet. I'm on Facebook and Twitter. Pretty active on the former, not so much on the latter. Holler at me.
